What holds up

  1. 01 / 05Education leads and that is fine. With no work history, school is the strongest section.
  2. 02 / 05Everything real counts.Volunteering, clubs, caregiving, coursework — named as work.
  3. 03 / 05Availability is the killer line.Days, hours, start date — often the deciding filter.
  4. 04 / 05Reliability signals beat adjectives.Attendance, punctuality, commitments kept.
  5. 05 / 05Half a page honest beats a page padded.Padding is visible and costs trust.

What does not

  1. 01 / 05Objective statements restating the obvious."Seeking a position" is the application itself.
  2. 02 / 05Inflated titles for informal work."CEO of lawn business" reads as a joke, not initiative.
  3. 03 / 05Skills lists of software never used. The first task exposes it.
  4. 04 / 05References written on the resume.Kept separate, provided on request.
  5. 05 / 05Copying a parent’s template.A twenty-year template mismatches a first job.

FAQ

Questions about this no experience / first job resume example

Short answers to what people ask before they send this resume.

Use this example
What do I put if I have never worked?

School, volunteering, clubs, coursework, family responsibility. Name them plainly as what they are; a first-job reader expects exactly this and is not surprised by it.

How long should it be?

One page, and half a page honestly filled is better than a page padded out. Padding is visible and it costs you.

Do I need a summary?

A short one helps, because it is the only place to say what you are looking for and when you can start. Two sentences is plenty.
